About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams shaped school band education through both his compositions and his foundational work on the Accent on Achievement Band Method. With over 200 published works for band, orchestra, and choir, he became one of the most performed composers in American music education, earning recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards.

Based in Washington state for much of his career, Williams combined his work as an elementary band specialist with extensive clinical activities, guest conducting across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. His background as a bassoon performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band informed his practical understanding of what young ensembles could achieve. Beyond composing, he served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band, bringing his commitment to quality music-making across multiple genres and age levels.
