Martha Mier

Martha Mier has shaped piano pedagogy for decades as a composer, clinician, and educator whose work appears in more than 200 published collections. Since joining Alfred Music Publishing in 1989, she has built a reputation for creating engaging repertoire across all student levels, from early elementary through advanced. Her Jazz, Rags & Blues series and Romantic Impressions series are staples in studios worldwide.

Mier's credentials reflect deep roots in music education. She holds certification from the Music Teachers National Association, the Florida State Music Teachers Association, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers, and has presented pedagogical workshops at the World Piano Pedagogy Conference, the National Piano Teachers Institute, and numerous state conventions. Her years directing a private studio in Lake City, Florida, combined with her work as a professional accompanist and church musician, grounded her understanding of what students actually need to learn.
