About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has spent over three decades in the classroom while establishing himself as a prolific composer whose music reaches far beyond school walls. His works for young band are performed internationally, and his commissions and pedagogical contributions have shaped instrumental programs at the state and national level. In 2017, his composition Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) drew an audience of over 5,000 at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.

Loest's publishing history spans multiple major publishers, beginning with his first publication in 1995 and including work with The FJH Music Company, C.L. Barnhouse Company, and MakeMusic Publications. Beyond his original compositions, he is recognized as an associate of several widely adopted band method series, including Measures of Success, Warm-ups and Beyond, and Rhythms and Beyond. His television credits include appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, and other network broadcasts. A graduate of Illinois State University and Northwestern University, Loest founded Fanfare Music Press in 2022 to continue publishing high-quality band literature. He taught for his entire career at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Itasca, Illinois, and continues to accept commissions through his website.
