Roland Barrett has shaped band composition and pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma since 2001, where he teaches music theory and composition with a focus on twentieth-century techniques at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Beyond the classroom, he maintains his role as musical arranger for the Pride of Oklahoma marching band, bringing that same inventive voice to the field.

With over two hundred published works for symphonic band, chamber ensembles, and marching band, Barrett has established himself as a nationally recognized composer whose pieces appear regularly on All-State and All-Region honor band programs. His music has been heard on National Public Radio and major conventions including the Midwest Band and Orchestra Conference, and he is a multiple recipient of the ASCAP Plus award.
