About the Arranger: Kirby Shaw
Kirby Shaw's influence extends across four decades and six continents, bringing choral music to educators and singers in 45 states and countries from Canada to Germany. He holds degrees in Music Education and Choral Composition from San Jose State University, with a DMA in Choral Conducting from the University of Washington. His teaching combines rigorous musicianship with infectious energy, a combination that has earned him collaborations with jazz legends including Bobby McFerrin, Al Jarreau, and Jon Hendricks.
As a composer and arranger, Shaw has created over 2500 works that have sold nearly 20 million copies worldwide. His tenure directing innovative vocal jazz ensembles at the College of the Siskiyous, Colorado State University, and the University of Missouri at Kansas City established his reputation for developing both artistic excellence and ensemble cohesion. He currently directs the Jefferson State Choral Coalition at Southern Oregon University, where he continues to write and arrange music performed globally. Shaw's prolific output has garnered multiple ASCAP awards and a recent commission from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
