About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams composed over 200 works for school bands, orchestras, and choirs, establishing himself as a trusted voice in music education. A native of Chicago who spent formative years in Spokane, Washington, he earned degrees in music education from Eastern Washington University and served as woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band. His compositions garnered recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards.

Beyond the page, Williams worked extensively as a clinician and guest conductor across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, bringing his pedagogical philosophy directly to school musicians. He co-authored the Accent on Achievement Band Method and specialized in elementary band instruction during his teaching career in Washington. A accomplished bassoon player, Williams also served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band, demonstrating deep engagement with the performance side of music.
