About the Composer: Richard L. Saucedo
Richard L. Saucedo spent 31 years as Director of Bands and Chairman of the Performing Arts Department at Carmel High School in Indiana, building a program that earned state, regional, and national recognition across concert, jazz, and marching categories. His ensembles achieved remarkable success, including three appearances at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival and back-to-back BOA National Championships in 2005 and 2012. In 2015 and 2022, he was inducted into the Music for All Hall of Fame and Drum Corps International Hall of Fame respectively, and received Indiana's "Bandmaster of the Year" award in 1998-99.
Beyond his directing work, Saucedo maintains an active career as a freelance arranger and composer for marching bands, choral groups, concert bands, and orchestras. He served as Brass Arranger and Composer for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, contributing to five DCI world championships, and continues as the music ensemble coordinator for the Blue Devils. As a Senior Educational Consultant for Music for All and Bands of America and a Chief Judge Team Leader for Bands of America competitions, he remains deeply invested in music education.
