About the Composer: Ralph Ford
Ralph Ford has spent nearly three decades in university music instruction while simultaneously building a prolific career as a composer and arranger. His professional reach spans orchestral and band composition, jazz ensemble writing, and media production, with over 250 titles published through Belwin and Alfred Music, performed by ensembles ranging from community orchestras to military bands across the globe.
Ford's versatility extends beyond the concert hall. His work in broadcast and media includes live radio, television production, commercial jingles, and news music packages for national networks. He began his arranging career at fifteen in Panama City, Florida, and served as Director of Jazz Ensemble I at Troy State University during his undergraduate years, a role he maintained for fifteen years. His Master of Science degree from Troy State, earned in 1988, grounded his subsequent teaching in orchestration, arranging, theory, and applied brass instruction.
