Roland Barrett has shaped generations of student composers and arrangers while maintaining an active publishing career that spans over two hundred works for band, chamber, and marching ensembles. Beginning his career as Assistant Director of Bands, he transitioned to the University of Oklahoma's music theory and composition faculty in 2001, where he teaches 20th century topics at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Beyond the classroom, Barrett remains a prolific composer whose works have earned performances by the Dallas Wind Symphony, countless All-State and All-Region honor bands, and national recognition through multiple ASCAP Plus awards. His arrangements continue to define the sound of the Pride of Oklahoma marching band, while his concert and chamber works have been featured on NPR, at major conventions, and at prestigious competitions including the National Trumpet Competition and International Trumpet Guild gatherings.
