About the Composer: Timothy Loest
Timothy Loest has built a four-decade career bridging the concert hall and the music classroom. His compositions for young band circulate internationally, and his work with pedagogical methods like Measures of Success® has shaped how tens of thousands of students encounter instrumental music. In 2017, his piece Cloud Gate drew over 5,000 listeners at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.
Loest's music reaches beyond school stages. His compositions have aired on network television programs including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, and Extra. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains ASCAP membership, and founded Fanfare Music Press in 2022 to publish high-quality works for band. For more than thirty years, he taught at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Itasca, Illinois, and continues to accept commissions through his website.
