Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has spent over three decades in the classroom while building a reputation as a composer whose works are performed by young bands across the globe. His music balances accessibility with genuine musical substance, a philosophy rooted in his deep understanding of what student musicians can achieve at every level. Beyond the concert hall, his compositions have appeared on network television including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America, and his pedagogical contributions to method books like Measures of Success and Warm-ups and Beyond have shaped how countless directors teach their ensembles.

Loest's honors include the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education and the distinction of having his work Cloud Gate performed for over 5,000 spectators at Chicago's Millennium Park in 2017. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains membership in ASCAP, and founded Fanfare Music Press in 2022 to continue publishing high-quality band compositions and arrangements.
