About the Composer: Richard L. Saucedo
Richard L. Saucedo spent 31 years transforming the Carmel High School band program in Indiana into a nationally recognized powerhouse. His tenure produced state champions, three appearances at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival, and a marching arts program that placed in the Bands of America Grand Nationals top ten for 17 consecutive years while capturing national titles in 2005 and 2012. In 2005, Carmel achieved the rare distinction of winning both a BOA National Championship and performing at the Midwest Clinic in the same calendar year.
Beyond his legendary high school leadership, Saucedo has established himself as a versatile freelance composer and arranger working across marching bands, concert bands, choral groups, and orchestras. He served as brass arranger and composer for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps during five DCI world championship seasons and currently coordinates music ensembles for the Blue Devils. His contributions to music education earned him Indiana Bandmaster of the Year (1998-99), Outstanding Music Educator (2010), induction into the Music for All Hall of Fame (2015), and election to the American Bandmasters Association. He also serves as a senior educational consultant for Music for All and Bands of America.
