About the Composer: Jack Bullock

Jack Bullock

Jack Bullock brings decades of practical experience to his writing for young ensembles. A trumpeter who performed with the Miami Philharmonic Orchestra and Miami Opera Company, as well as regional and touring ensembles, he understands what sounds good and what sits comfortably under the fingers. He holds degrees in Music Education through the doctoral level and taught instrumental music in public school classrooms for 20 years, including seven years as an assistant band director at Ithaca College's School of Music, where he chaired the Music Education Department.

As a composer and arranger, Bullock has published over 600 works across concert band, orchestra, jazz ensemble, and marching band. He co-authored the Belwin 21st Century Band Method and contributed arrangements to Music Expressions, Alfred's school music curriculum. His work has earned recognition in national directories, and his membership in ASCAP since 1980 reflects his standing in the professional music community. Bullock has conducted clinics and workshops throughout North America and England, sharing his expertise with music educators at every level.
