About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has built a career on writing music that meets young musicians where they are, technically accessible yet dramatically sophisticated. His compositions and arrangements have reached audiences across television networks including The Tonight Show and Good Morning America, while his pedagogical contributions shape how bands learn through works like Measures of Success and the Beyond series. In 2017, his composition Cloud Gate drew over 5,000 listeners to Chicago's Millennium Park, the same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award.

With more than three decades teaching at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Illinois, Loest understands the realities of the rehearsal room. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains ASCAP membership, and founded Fanfare Music Press in 2022 to publish high-quality band repertoire. His published works span major publishers including FJH Music Company, C.L. Barnhouse, and Warner Bros. Publications.
