About the Composer: John Kinyon
John Kinyon's education at Ithaca College and the Eastman School of Music shaped his deep understanding of both composition and pedagogy. He brought that expertise to instrumental music direction in public schools, to his role as educational director at Warner Brothers Music, and later as a professor of music education at the University of Miami. Since 1982, he has focused on composing educational literature from his home in Tuckasegee, North Carolina.
Kinyon's catalog exceeds 250 published works for Alfred, spanning marches, ballads, and overtures across grade levels 1 through 3. His compositional voice balances accessibility with musical substance, making him one of the most widely performed contemporary composers in school band programs.
