About the Composer: William Owens
William Owens brings three decades of classroom experience to his compositional voice. A VanderCook College of Music graduate, he spent 30 years as a band director in Texas before retiring in 2014, giving him an insider's understanding of what young ensembles need musically and pedagogically.
Owens has established himself as a prolific and trusted voice in young band repertoire, with over 300 published titles since 1993. His work appears on festival and contest lists across North America, and his compositions are analyzed in music education texts. He holds memberships in ASCAP, TMEA, and Phi Beta Mu International, and has received commissions from the American Bandmasters Association, South Plains College, and other significant organizations. He resides in Fort Worth with his wife Georgia.
