André Previn's Guide to Music

Twenty-four full-color wallcharts, closely related to the topic books, illustrate the instruments of the orchestra, as well as keyboard, electronic and mechanical instruments and the voice. Four of the charts depict aspects of performing and recording music. The instrumental charts feature large labeled photographs and cutaway diagrams of the principal instruments. Surrounding these are pictures of the instruments in use in a variety of contexts. The range, tuning and relative sizes of all orchestral instruments are shown, with a locational diagram of their position in the orchestra.
