Martha Mier

Martha Mier has shaped piano pedagogy across four decades through compositions that balance accessibility with musical substance. Since joining Alfred Music Publishing in 1989, she has published more than 200 educational works while maintaining an active career as a clinician, adjudicator, and workshop presenter at major conferences including the Music Teachers National Association Conference and the World Piano Pedagogy Conference.

Mier's teaching background runs deep. She held a private piano studio in Lake City, Florida for many years, served as a professional accompanist, and has remained active in church music. Her credentials include state and national certification through the Music Teachers National Association, the Florida State Music Teachers Association, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers. A graduate of Florida State University and member of Sigma Alpha Iota, she has presented workshops internationally in Australia and New Zealand. Her compositions, including the Jazz, Rags & Blues series and Romantic Impressions collections, appear regularly on the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival Bulletin.
