About the Arranger: James D. Ployhar

James D. Ployhar has shaped music education through prolific arrangement and composition work, with more than 800 publications to his name. His influence extends globally: he authored the Contemporary Band Course, now published by Alfred Music and translated into French and Norwegian for use throughout Scandinavia. Beyond the page, Ployhar spent over 19 years in public school classrooms and has conducted clinics and workshops at colleges and universities across the United States, Canada, Norway, Germany, and England.

His compositional training came from Morris Hutchings Ruger at California State University-Long Beach, and his orchestration studies included work with Knud Havalde of the Danish Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Ployhar's recognition includes the National Band Association Citation of Excellence and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Valley City State University. His music has appeared on network television and been performed internationally from Europe to Japan to the Pacific Rim.
