Heather Sorenson

Heather Sorenson composes and arranges from Dallas, where her music reaches performers across churches, schools, universities, and concert halls worldwide. What sets her apart is her fluency in both traditional and contemporary Christian music; she refuses to work within a single aesthetic, instead building a distinctive voice that weaves these worlds together. Her commissions have come from major institutions including Texas A&M University, the Kennedy Foundation, and Carnegie Hall, where her oratorio EXODUS premiered.

Throughout her career, Sorenson has invested deeply in music education. She taught elementary music at Grace Academy of Dallas for four years, served as an adjunct professor at Baylor University, and continues to lead master classes and workshops at universities and worship conferences across the country. When she is not composing or traveling as a guest conductor and lecturer, she organizes benefit concerts for nonprofit organizations she is passionate about.
