Why we love this

Students stay motivated when they can play music that matters to them, and this collection delivers exactly that: 11 of the most recognizable contemporary worship songs arranged at exactly the right difficulty for Level 3 pianists. The page-by-page correlation with the Lesson Book means you're not adding extra material to your teaching schedule; you're deepening understanding of concepts your students already encountered. Gerou's arrangements capture the spirit of each song without compromising pedagogical clarity.

What to expect

These arrangements glow with accessibility without sacrificing warmth. The melodies sit comfortably under the fingers, supported by straightforward but effective accompaniment patterns that let students focus on singing through the phrase rather than wrestling with technique.

Who it's for

This book is designed for piano students in the early intermediate stages (roughly six to twelve months into study) who want to play music with spiritual significance. It works especially well for students in church or faith-based communities, and for any young pianist whose motivation benefits from repertoire that connects to their life outside lessons.

How to get the most out of it

  • Pay attention to dynamic markings in these arrangements, as they shape how recognizable each melody becomes. Even subtle changes from piano to mezzo-forte help listeners hear the familiar tune clearly.
  • Accompany yourself or a student vocalist through several of these pieces. The piano part is designed to support a singing voice, making these excellent preparation for ensemble playing or church performances.
  • Practice the left-hand patterns separately before combining hands. Many of these songs use repetitive accompaniment figures that feel effortless once secured.

How to use it

Assign pieces from this book alongside the corresponding pages in your Level 3 Lesson Book to reinforce newly learned concepts while keeping practice sessions engaging. Students can also prepare individual songs for church performances, recitals, or family gatherings, turning theory work into real-world music-making.

Skills your students will build

  • playing hymn-style chord progressions with melodic awareness
  • sustaining longer phrase lines across multiple measures
  • coordinating accompaniment patterns (left hand) with melody (right hand)
  • interpreting dynamic markings to shape familiar melodies
  • reading Level 3 technical vocabulary and tempo indications in a motivating context
