About the Composer: Scott Watson

Scott Watson spent 35 years in the Parkland School District (Allentown, PA), where he built the instrumental and strings program from the ground up while serving as high school Director of Bands. His work there shaped his deep understanding of what students at every level can achieve musically. Now Associate Professor of Music at Cairn University, Watson brings that classroom experience to his composing, which spans more than 120 published works for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensembles.

Watson's voice as a composer draws from two distinct worlds: contemporary concert art music and the ensemble tradition. His pieces have been performed at major venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic, and the White House. Beyond composing, he has authored the widely respected text Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press, 2011) and regularly clinics for festival and honor bands. He serves as an exclusive composer and clinician for Alfred Publications.
