About the Composer: Adrian B. Sims
Adrian B. Sims is a composer, conductor, educator, and trombonist born in Seattle in 2000. His compositions have been performed at The Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, recognized on the Bandworld Top 100 List, and selected as winners in the Maryland Music Educators Association Young Composers Project and the Make Music Young Composers Contest. He has conducted his own works across Maryland schools and performed as a trombonist in pit orchestras, symphony orchestras, jazz ensembles, and concert bands, including Maryland All-State Band and alongside the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
Currently pursuing a dual degree in Music Education and Composition at The University of Maryland, Sims studies composition with Dr. Robert Gibson and bass trombone with Matthew Guilford, solo bass trombonist with the National Symphony Orchestra. He credits his development as a composer to the mentorship of Brian Balmages and the support of his high school band directors.
