Joseph M. Martin began his music career with formal training in piano performance, earning degrees from Furman University and the University of Texas at Austin. He spent five years teaching piano pedagogy at UT Austin while building a reputation as a solo recitalist and orchestral collaborator, performing across the United States and Mexico and winning the Nina Plant Wideman Competition to appear with the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra.
Martin's career trajectory shifted toward service music and church contexts, where his compositions and arrangements now reach congregations and conference musicians across North America. His work has been performed in prestigious venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to regional theaters, but he has chosen to focus his creative energy on pieces that serve worship settings and community musical gatherings. He resides in Austin, Texas with his family.
