Jack Wilds has spent his career writing music that speaks across generations and skill levels, from elementary ensembles to professional orchestras. His published works for developing musicians number over 40, and his wind band compositions appear regularly on festival repertoire lists worldwide. He studied composition at the University of Texas and Texas State University, where he now teaches composition, theory, ear training, and technology courses.
Beyond the university, Wilds maintains deep roots in ensemble life. He served as a public school band director, adjudicates festivals across the country, and co-directs music at First Presbyterian Church in San Marcos. His chamber works have been premiered by the Attacca Quartet and members of major orchestras including the New York Philharmonic and Atlanta Symphony.
