Joseph M. Martin studied piano performance at Furman University and later earned his master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he subsequently taught in the Piano Pedagogy Department for five years. His performance career has taken him across North America and Mexico, including a featured appearance with the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra following his win in the Nina Plant Wideman Competition, and his recital work has been broadcast nationally. Though he maintains an active concert schedule, Martin now focuses much of his creative energy on church music and compositions for worship settings, allowing his work to reach audiences in Carnegie Hall, regional theaters, and countless congregations throughout the United States and Canada.

Based in Austin, Texas, Martin continues to compose and arrange across a wide stylistic range, consistently surprising listeners with the depth and variety of his output. His dual foundation in classical piano training and sacred music has shaped a distinctive compositional voice that serves both concert halls and worship spaces with equal fluency.
