Joseph M. Martin studied piano performance at Furman University and earned his master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he later taught in the Piano Pedagogy Department for five years. A accomplished concert pianist, he won the Nina Plant Wideman Competition and has performed solo recitals across the United States and Mexico, including a nationally broadcast performance at Ex-convento del Carman in Guadalajara.

In recent years, Martin has redirected his considerable talents toward church music and worship settings, composing and arranging extensively for choral and instrumental ensembles. His works have graced performances at Carnegie Hall, regional theaters, and countless worship services throughout North America. Based in Austin, Texas, he continues to compose with remarkable range and sophistication, surprising audiences with the breadth of his musical voice.
