His recordings feature collaborations with musicians including Urbie Green, Eddie Daniels, Derek Smith, Milt Hinton, and Marvin Stamm, reflecting his deep knowledge of both jazz tradition and studio craft.

Hest teaches music at the City University of New York and holds a doctoral equivalency granted in recognition of his achievements across the music industry. His focus areas include the business of music and music technology, bringing real-world professional perspective into the classroom.
