Richard Meyer brings three decades of string teaching experience into his compositions, having shaped orchestra programs from elementary through high school levels across Southern California. His tenure directing orchestras at Oak Avenue Intermediate School grew the program from 29 students to 200, while his work with the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra earned him invitations to conduct across North America, Europe, and Australia. Meyer's "Giving Bach" initiative at his school pioneered interactive concert models for underserved student populations, earning national recognition for its community impact.

As a composer and arranger, Meyer has published over 190 works and spent 16 years as string editor for Alfred Publishing Company. His pedagogical insight informs every page he writes, whether through his Sound Innovations series, the String Explorer Method, or standalone concert works. Meyer understands what young orchestras need because he spent 22 years building and directing them.
