About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht
Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for decades as both composer and influential voice in music education. Since 1987, she has received consecutive ASCAP Special Music Awards and published over 600 choral works alongside 75 larger theatrical scores and songbooks. She has conducted festival choirs at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, and spent more than 30 years directing choral and vocal publications for major educational music publishers, including her tenure at Alfred Music.
Her academic background spans music and theater: she holds a B.A. from Rollins College (1976) with dual majors in Music and Theater, an M.A. in Drama from the University of Miami (1977), and an M.M. in Accompanying from the same institution (1979). Albrecht has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. A Cleveland native now based in Wake Forest, North Carolina, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College in 2021, and has served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society.
