About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for decades as a composer, conductor, and clinician with a particular gift for choral movement and accessibility. Since 1987, she has received the ASCAP Special Music Award annually and maintains over 600 choral publications in print alongside 75 larger works for stage. Her conducting has graced honor choirs at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, while her editorial leadership at Alfred Music and other major publishers established her as a defining voice in school choral repertoire.

Albrecht holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater, 1976), the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979), and has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. She chaired the Board of Trustees for the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and received their "Pillar of Leadership" award. In 2021, both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College honored her with Distinguished Alumna Awards.
