About the Arranger: Richard Meyer
Richard Meyer spent 35 years teaching strings at elementary, middle, and high school levels in public schools, most notably at Oak Avenue Intermediate School in Temple City, California, where he grew the orchestra program from 29 to 200 students over two decades. Beyond the classroom, he directed the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra for 16 years, leading performances across North America, Europe, and Australia, while also serving as string editor for Alfred Publishing Company and co-authoring the String Explorer Series.
Meyer is recognized nationally as both an educator and composer, with nearly 200 compositions and arrangements published. His innovative "Giving Bach" program, launched in 2009, uses interactive concerts to reach special needs and underserved students throughout Southern California and has earned national recognition for its model. He has clinicked at the A.S.T.A. National Conference, regional orchestra directors' associations, and university string workshops across the country.
