Dr. Shayna Isaacs

Dr. Shayna Isaacs [they/them] currently serves as Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Recent engagements include Music Director/Conductor for the Off-Broadway of Here There Be Dragons at The Players Theatre in NYC, Amahl in Amahl and the Night Visitors with Music on Site Inc., Lucy in The Billy Goat’s Gruff with Amarillo Opera. They have presented at the conferences of the Music Theatre Educators’ Alliance, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, The National Opera Association, the College Music Society, and the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. In the Summer of 2022, they attended the prestigious National Association of Teachers of Singing Voice Internship program. They received their Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Alabama, and their Doctor of Musical Arts degree and Certificate in Opera Studies from Texas Tech University. Dr. Isaacs strives to be an advocate for transgender and non-binary performers, providing their students with gender-affirming vocal guidance.
