Mike Collins-Dowden

Mike Collins-Dowden has taught 4th and 5th grade band at Pleasant Ridge School in Glenview, Illinois, since 2007. He received his B.M. in music education and trombone performance from the Eastman School of Music in 2003 and performed with the Eastman Wind Ensemble’s 2004 Japan tour. In 2007, he earned an M.M. in music education from Temple University.

Collins-Dowden is an active composer of music for young concert and jazz bands with much experience writing music for his own students to perform. He has published more than 30 pieces with Alfred/Belwin, FJH, and Jalen Music.

When not busy with teaching, composing, and parenting, he sometimes finds time to perform on trombone or guitar and to program music on a Nintendo Game Boy.
