Amy Carruthers

Amy Carruthers is an elementary classroom music specialist and a choir director in the Northport-East Northport School District on Long Island and has taught there for 23 years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at the Crane School of Music and her graduate degree at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Amy has certification in various modalities such as Kodaly, Orff and World Drumming techniques and is an active member of major organizations such as ACDA and AOSA among others. She has also served as Corresponding Secretary for the Long Island Orff Schulwerk Association and has been a frequent clinician for Suffolk County Music Educators Association PEAK (Parents, Educators and Kids) Festival. Amy has also been a featured conductor for the SCMEA (Suffolk County Music Educators Association) All-County Festival. She has been a contributor to professional blogs for Alfred Press for over 5 years.
