About This Collection

Description

Alfred's concert band catalog spans 2,500 titles across all skill levels, from grade 0.5 through advanced repertoire. Teachers return to bestsellers like Recharge by Adrian B. Sims, Mt. Everest by Rossano Galante, and Red Giant by Jorge L. Vargas, which balance musicality with accessibility for developing ensembles. The collection leans heavily toward light concert and programmatic works, with robust selections in arrangements, folk idioms, and patriotic music. You'll find strong support for contest and festival preparation, holiday programming, and repertoire tied to approved lists like Texas UIL and NYSSMA.

Highlights

Teachers consistently choose Recharge by Adrian B. Sims for its versatility and engagement factor across middle school levels. Mt. Everest by Rossano Galante and Red Giant by Jorge L. Vargas round out the favorites, offering grade 4 and grade 2 options respectively that work equally well in concert and contest settings. Scott Watson's Terracotta Warriors has emerged as a standout choice at the grade 2 level, blending programmatic appeal with solid pedagogy.

Recently added

Recent releases include Futurescape by Todd Stalter, Bright Horizon by Scott Watson, Capriccio Leone by Brian Beck, Around Asia in 80 Bars by Benjamin Yeo, and Entranced by Raymond Sifuentes, all published in June 2026. These titles expand the catalog's reach into contemporary concert repertoire and multicultural programming.

Composer Spotlight

Robert Sheldon is one of the most performed composers of wind band music today and the lead author of Sound Innovations for Concert Band. His 368 titles in this collection reflect a consistent gift for writing music that resonates with both ensembles and audiences. His award-winning work from the American School Band Director's Association and ASCAP speaks to the enduring quality of his output.

Scott Watson, Associate Professor of Music at Cairn University, spent 35 years as an instrumental music teacher and director in the Allentown schools before focusing on composition. His unique voice carries through more than 120 published works across concert band, string orchestra, and chamber settings, with Terracotta Warriors now a widely adopted title at the grade 2 level. His experience balancing classroom teaching with composition gives his music real pedagogical weight.

Todd Stalter directed the Eureka High School band program in Illinois for 34 years, building a 16-time Class 1A state marching championship program. His 121 published works, led by the popular Critical Mass, reflect his deep knowledge of what works in both contest and concert settings. His background as a successful public school director informs every aspect of his compositional approach.

Mark Williams was one of the premier composers for school bands and co-author of the Accent on Achievement Band Method. Though he passed away, his legacy of over 200 published works and his influence as a clinician who traveled across North America and Australia continue to shape band curricula nationwide. His pedagogical grounding and prolific output make his titles reliable choices across grade levels.
